FOR THE JW CHILDREN

I was thinking about how difficult it was for me growing up a witness. The constant pull between two worlds has GOT

to do some kind of number on your personality. If you relate to my poem below, feel free to add a line of your own (or simply a thought).

    Why Me?

A child, so different and feeling alone

Her arms down straight and still as a stone

While others salute and sing a loud song

    Her heart beats in fear

    She might do something wrong

The others draw Santas and Valentine hearts

Or decorate pumpkins and witches with warts

They talk about Christmas and laugh with such glee

While she feels out of place and wonders, "Why me?"

She hurts and feels sadness when she’s not invited

To parties and birthdays that get kids excited

Sleepovers with schoolmates, now that sounds like fun

But don’t even think it, it’s simply not done

Watchtower children all hide deep inside

The guilt and their fears, it can’t be denied

I felt that! A tear, a wrenched tug of my heart yet even. And now I'm a grandma. But thankfully, all my children and grandchildren are "free."

    She's been told

That all her friends will soon die

She can't get too close to them

    Feeling alone, she wonders why

Journey-on, did you see that Dedpoet is putting together a collection of poems? He started a thread earlier this morning. Your poem would be a wonderful addition, IMHO.

Hi, Gayle...yes, me too, even with all the time that has passed.

Gopher, I will check it out. Thanks for your contribution.

    Her skirt's is too long

so she shrugs up her shoulders.

    She wishes her purse

    was not a magazine holder.

My childhood was taken away in other ways and I still feel real anger when I think of the innocence of any child being misused. DIE CULT DIE!t
