When I was in middle school, my best friend was Greek Orthodox. She celebrated Christmas a week or two after WE did. I don't recall her ever being teased or ridiculed about this.

My maternal grandmother and her siblings were raised as Lutheran and came from Norway. I remember going to the Norwegian Christmas party with her and my great aunt, at the Lutheran Church each year. THIS was held and celebrated, after the typical traditional Christmas date as well. I do not recall ever being teased about the "date" of this, either.

When Our Savior was born, the angels sang, and REJOICED over this monumental event and were more than aware that the Christchild was being brought GIFTS to celebrate his birth. We hear NOTHING in the bible about this being "displeasing" to the Father.

Colossians 2:16 tells us NOT to be judging ANYONE for any THING they might choose to celebrate. Another passage tells us that whatever we DO...if we are doing it FOR the glory of God and doing so honorably and with thanksgiving. So......that NO ONE has the righ to criticize others for these celebrations. Obviously, the WTS slides right OVER these scriptures in order to promote the OPINIONS of the men who run the organization.

IF it bothers YOUR conscience to embrace any celebrations.....then do not do so. If you have no problem with them and wish to join in the celebrations that best suit YOUR families....then by all means...please go ahead! We are SO FAR BEHIND in establishing warm, memorable and loving tradtions for our families----we have no time to LOSE!

    hugs,

    Annie
