A big Amarone( a variety of Valpolicella).

Dang, I knew Nvr would get it!

In the book it was a "big Amarone". Since the movie makers figured that would go right over most non-Italian heads, they changed it to "Chianti" for the movie.

BTW, I've only tried two Amarones. One was about $25 and was lousy. The other was $75 and was very good. I don't think the price of a "good" Amarone is worth it. But I'm glad I tried it.
