    "Takes one to know one."

I agree. Governments that are repressive and make use of propaganda, or have done so in the recent past, tend to be very good at spotting the propagandistic and psychologically manipulative nature of JWs. Knowing first hand the power of propaganda, such govts always regard JWs as a threat and so they always give them trouble.

wether you are a repressive goverment that uses propaganda ( Russia ?? ) or a " western democracy looking for weapons of mass destruction ( USA + GB ?? ) and invading foreign countries ( thank you very much, now we have Isis ) , somebody has to stop cults like Scientology or Watchtower.
It has nothing to do with freedom of religion

Why should the WTBTS have the freedom to be subversive in Russia? Believe what you want at home, just stop being aggressive.

It would be different if JWism wasn't full of hypocrisy, and the leaders didn't lie all the time.

Interesting quotes from an Examiner.com article:

"Muriel views horrific, traumatic abuses (PTSD) as similar, whether it’s from a cult, rape victims, war, and victims of physical torture from Africa and other countries seeking asylum in England where he works to help them. Most clients often experience a threat to their life, intense fear, helplessness or horror. In addition, they suffer symptoms such as recurrent nightmares, insomnia, flashbacks, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and adjustment disorders."

"While Russia, China, and other nations take a hard-line stand against religions and cults that don’t conform to their culture, political beliefs or standards, numerous other countries are struggling with how to contain, regulate or shut down dangerous cults that abuse and exploit the vulnerable. Most people agree that anyone can believe what they want as long as their practices do not harm, abuse, or break the laws of the land."

" The Universal Declaration of Human Rights declares, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law. All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law.”
