Does anyone know where the models come from who appear on Awake ä and Watchtower ä magazines? It would make sense to me that they’re Dubs ä as this would be saving the Society ä money.

Or are they Worldly ä people? Does anyone know anyone who has appeared on a cover or indeed someone who has appeared and since become an Apostate ä ?

Were YOU ever on a cover?

I quite like the one below. The model, who is presumably a cyber terrorist looks a little like Elton John.

I knew two people who were on covers of the WT. One was a Bethelite and the other was a CO's wife.

My husband was inside the magazine once, a photo of the 1995 drama. January '96 I think.

There also is "free" art for publications. Once there was a photo on the back of the WT that was the same one advertising a product I market.

Well, if you are a brainwashed older kid you can commit suicide by refusing blood and its fractions. If you're still too young to make those kinds of decisions for yourself, your JW parents will gladly sacrifice you to the WT on the altar of the WT gods. Then the WT will plaster your picture all over, posthumously, of course.

Your parents might even get their pictures posted on the cover as examples of " a fine witness to the world" for killing their kid for the WT.

There was a family in my cong with 3 small children, at one time or other their kids had been in or on the cover of the mags. The dad used to be a bethelite and was tight with some elders there.

I really think its a case of who you know...They do not used out side models otherwuise they'd have to pay them and associate with them.

I know the original cover Does God Care Brochure (I think it was that one) had to be re-done because the guy on the cover turned apostate.

I know a lot of people who ended up on the cover or in pictures of the publications. And the outfits that they wear in them usually don't actually belong to the people posing because as one of my old friends who was in a photo told me "nobody owns clothes that ugly"

    LOL!

I have through the years seen many people I knew from NY in the Mags, mainly these are people that are JW Elite you know, pioneers, elders, bethelites, MS's that kissed alot of butt, my brother told me something quite interesting about the WTS's Youth video, he said that a few of the kids that were on it were living double lives, involved in drinking, premarital sex and so on, but in the KH were little saints, he knows because he has always been on the fringe himself and hung out with them, he said alot of those kids are no longer JW's. Wow and to think, I used to beel so inadecuate because I couldn't be a Regular Pioneer!!! boy am I glad I never wasted my time in that way, now!!!

Thanks folks. I had a hunch they'd be insiders.

AJWNM you make a good point.

If they ran a front cover on Apostates it'd be cool if they had a picture of someone like Danny Hazsard, or would they get a Bethelite to "dress up" as an Apostate?

A few years ago they experimented with using stock photography for some of the pix, including the cover. There was one with a good looking blonde about unfaithful marriage mates. Then they decided since they didn't have control over the models (ie, she could wind up in a porn movie or something) that they would keep doing everything in house.

My favorite pictures are when they try to portray some seedy side of life, like gang activity. The witness models they use end up looking like rejects from the Village People. I doubt they would make it in the Crips or Bloods.

I started a thread a while back about a possible JW urban legend.

If you've ever sat before a Judicial Committee, your picture won't be used in the litterature. Even if you've been a good Johnny Bethelite for 20 years now.

No one was able to really confirm or deny this, but I think it's probably true.

You can always create your own cover like some of the talented photoshoppers of JWD have done.
