I am unable to find humor in a picture of threatened cruelty to animals.
JW's don't usually force their literature on people anyhow. They pathetically plea and reason with people to try to convince them to take their crappy literature.
The forcefulness from the WTS only applies AFTER you're trapped in their organization.

I also can't see the connection, the theme of JWs killing dogs does not correspond to anything we know about them. Unless the dog stands for something symbolic.

I know it's rather strong, but it parallels other jokes about death to animals...
I'm not for or against it.
Just saying that things are acceptable in humor that aren't otherwise.
My opinion only.

That first cover with the dog is derivative from the classic NATIONAL LAMPOON cover that was essentially the same.
I would substitute a picture of a prominent apostate - Ray Franz, Randy, me, or Bill Bowen, and then the cover would have meaning.
"Buy this magazine or we'll kill this apsotate!"
Now THAT'S funny!!
