ya I got no real problem with black other than nothing else matters and unforgiven dont belong on it.
Im not going to be a poser and say I hate metallica now. Got no real problem with metallica today though I do enjoy their older stuff better. I dont believe they sold out. Look man, these guys are getting older. Their taste in music changes just like the best of us. They wanted to do something different. big deal.

James Hetfield Calls Metallica’s St. Anger “A Purge”
Metallica frontman James Hetfield says he now regards 2003’s St. Anger as “more of a statement than Metallica music that [the band enjoys] playing live,” adding, “It was more of a purge, just getting that shit out of me, as a catalyst for the next chapter of Metallica.” So we can assume the making of the group’s forthcoming LP is totally different? Definitely. “With St. Anger, it became so open-minded that it became unfocused. This time around, there’s a lot of ‘Sorry, it’s not good enough.’ We’re aiming for excellence.” Drummer Lars Ulrich expressed similar sentiments recently when discussing the new record’s sound. The album is expected to drop early next year.So can you say sell outs.

First that is not the definition of selling out. That is the definition of 'not the best we could have done'. Selling out would be if they did a backstreet boys style album just to make money because it was popular.
Second, if the article you posted constitutes selling out, then every artist there ever was sold out.

My husband likes Pre-Black Metallica. I like Post.
What I find most interesting is my JW- (Now Elder) Son Turned me on to Metallica a few years ago. I still hold hope he'll begin to think for himself again some day.

Before Black the Album ----->Load is the sixth album by Americanheavy metal band Metallica, released in June 1996.
The album marked the band's return to the musical landscape, approximately five years after the release of their international smash success Metallica (commonly referred to as The Black Album). Load saw the band embrace a collective sound and identity far removed from their thrash metal roots. As with previous releases, the fourteen songs that would eventually comprise the album began as rough demos created by principal songwriters James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich in Ulrich's basement recording studio, "The Dungeon." The band took over 30 demos into The Plant Studios in the spring of 1995 where they would work for approximately the next year. Once again, Metallica teamed up with famed producer Bob Rock, who had been at the helm during the recording process for Metallica.
The songwriting dispenses almost entirely with the thrash metal style that characterized the band's sound in the 1980s. In place of staccato riffs, Hetfield and lead guitarist Kirk Hammet experimented with more blues based tones and styles. Additionally, Ulrich adopted a minimalist approach to his drum recording, abandoning the speed and complex double bass patterns of previous albums.
