Get Tay Zonday Ringtones! Get MP3 ringtones – tons of them. Chocolate Rain
Some stay dry and others feel the pain
Chocolate Rain
A baby born will die before the sin
Chocolate Rain
The school books say it can't be here again
Chocolate Rain
The prisons make you wonder where it went
Chocolate Rain
Build a tent and say the world is dry
Chocolate Rain
Zoom the camera out and see the lie
Chocolate Rain
Forecast to be falling yesterday
Chocolate Rain
Only in the past is what they say
Chocolate Rain
Raised your neighborhood insurance rates
Chocolate Rain
Makes us happy 'livin in a gate
Chocolate Rain
Made me cross the street the other day
Chocolate Rain
Made you turn your head the other way
(Chorus)
Chocolate Rain
History quickly crashing through your veins
Chocolate Rain
Using you to fall back down again
[Repeat]
Chocolate Rain
Seldom mentioned on the radio
Chocolate Rain
Its the fear your leaders call control
Chocolate Rain
Worse than swearing worse than calling names
Chocolate Rain
Say it publicly and you're insane
Chocolate Rain
No one wants to hear about it now
Chocolate Rain
Wish real hard it goes away somehow
Chocolate Rain
Makes the best of friends begin to fight
Chocolate Rain
But did they know each other in the light?
Chocolate Rain
Every February washed away
Chocolate Rain
Stays behind as colors celebrate
Chocolate Rain
The same crime has a higher price to pay
chocolate Rain
The judge and jury swear it's not the face
(Chorus)
Chocolate Rain
Dirty secrets of economy
Chocolate Rain
Turns that body into GDP
Chocolate Rain
The bell curve blames the baby's DNA
Chocolate Rain
But test scores are how much the parents make
Chocolate Rain
'Flippin cars in France the other night
Chocolate Rain
Cleans the sewers out beneath Mumbai
Chocolate Rain
'Cross the world and back its all the same
Chocolate Rain
Angels cry and shake their heads in shame
Chocolate Rain
Lifts the ark of paradise in sin
Chocolate Rain
Which part do you think you're 'livin in?
Chocolate Rain
More than 'marchin more than passing law
Chocolate Rain
Remake how we got to where we are
CHOCOLATE RAIN...contagious! Listen at your own risk!! Beware!!

It's Man's Inhumanity To Man.
Change it to RED RAIN and show all the images concerning the injustices done to the American Indian.
Change it to any color you want mix it up and and show the images of Man's Inhumanity to Man.
No one has a corner on human suffering, all races and ethnic groups at one time or another have suffered from Chocolate Rain.
Some at the hands of their own people.
The tears are still falling in different parts of the world 24/7

Let's discuss the "meme" aspect, shall we?

Ask yourself, "Why?"
Satanus said it before I could, it's hypnotic, a power of persuasion. You hear Chocolate rain over and over. It sticks the first time and then you go back and listen again and you start to pick out what is said in between.
What is said in between is now important, meaningful and nutricious. Chocolate rain was the bait to get you there.

According to the composer the lyrics are a stream of consciousness that he himself cannot explain. Lets discuss the "Meme" aspect. Terry.. is it the cultural evolution that you are focusing in on? Is that the Meme aspect?

My 2 cents thanks for sharing. You give us a provacative topic. I think the man has a good voice. He has figured out how to promote his music. I saw somwhere where it is a stream of conciousness song. Which to me means it doesnt really mean anything specific. To me it is somewhat of a social commentary from a black perspective at least the part of the bell curve. Beauty and meaning is in the eyes of the beholder with something like this. I didnt notice a chorus or a bridge which to me makes the song very simplistic. I think the song works because of the texture and quality of the singers voice. Seeing him and hearing him there is a disconnect at first his voice sounds more mature than he looks. The song also works because it keeps repeating and worming its way into your brain. It keeps repeating because there is no chorus or bridge. Back in the days of am radio when there werent a thousand channels, I dont think a song this simple would have worked or gotten any exposure. But its a new day!
