It's utter rubbish but typical of old farts wanting to be 'trendy' and attract 'the young folks'
Some of the ones that the general public sent to the BBC in response were really impressive and much better.
IMO the logo should embody something about the host country or city as well as being clear and distinct ... the Vancouver one is much better for instance:

They could have at least captured the spirit of London, it's ancient side blending with the modern, kind of like the Puerto Rican motto "where the old world meets the new".
