Matters on which corrections of viewpoint have been needed have been relatively minor when compared with the vital Bible truths that they have discerned and publicized. Among these are the following: Jehovah is the only true God. Jesus Christ is not part of a Trinitarian godhead but is the only-begotten Son of God. Redemption from sin is possible only through faith in Christ’s ransom sacrifice. The holy spirit is not a person but is Jehovah’s active force, and its fruitage must be evident in the lives of true worshipers. The human soul is not immortal, as the ancient pagans claimed; it dies, and the hope for future life is in the resurrection. God’s permission of wickedness has been because of the issue of universal sovereignty. God’s Kingdom is the only hope for mankind. Since 1914 we have been living in the last days of the global wicked system of things. Only 144,000 faithful Christians will be kings and priests with Christ in heaven, whereas the rest of obedient mankind will receive eternal life on a paradise earth.

Oh yes? I do not call it minor....

The date of the close of that ‘battle’ is definitely marked in Scripture as October, 1914. It is already in progress, its beginning dating from October, 1874.

We see no reason for changing the figures — nor could we change them if we would. They are, we believe, God’s dates, not ours. But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of trouble.

Since Deut 18:22 has been fulfilled in Jesus, those believing in Jesus can not be false prophets in fulfillment of it or accusation of it.

One of the most ridicolous things I`ve ever seen them put in print (but of course, seeing that they have bothered mentioning Deut. 18.22 is revealing on their part, clearly, they must be bothered by their own date-setting-past). However: By following the same logic as that statement, every word in the Torah was nullified, with the coming of the Messiah. Then why bother reading it at all? The point is (and the WTS knows this very well, or at least they should, and if they don`t, then they are idiots), that the Torah is not just about the Law. There is a ton of other stuff there too, which the jws read and refer to all the time: The creation of the world, Adam and Eve, Noah blah blah blah. Is the story of Noah a "law"? Of course not. And when reading Deut.18.22 you will clearly see that this passage has nothing to do with "the Law" either. 18.22 is nothing more than advice for how to distinguish true prophets from false prophets. And hence, it is valid also today.

Edited to add: Whoops, I now saw it was from a discussion board. Well, nvm...btt

Welcome to the forum, wilber. Let us hear from you some more.

The false prophecy vs, date setting excuses sound like a distinction without a difference.

    Here is your false prophet.

Every Awake! from 1968 to 1994 stated the following (albeit revised slight through the years):

Most importantly, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away. (March 8 1988)

JW's changed that doctine of the 1914 generation in 1995, yet claimed it was the "Creator's promise" in every issue of the Awake! for a quarter century.

You will notice that the Watchtower likes to enclose the word PROPHET in quotation marks when they talk about themselves.

    This is canny duplicity!

Putting quotes around the word gives them an out. It means the word is not to be taken as written, but, rather in another sense.

They eat their cake and have it too!

Jehovah's Witnesses are "prophets" is literally true. Unfortunately, it isn't factually true.

    IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET"
These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet? ... This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses. ... Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a "prophet" of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record.

Thanks Terry for finding that. That Watchtower was quoting from Fred Franz' talk during the 1958 international convention in New York City. I sat there for 8 mind-numbing days believing I was in a spiritual paradise. And I spent another 40 mind-numbing years following the dictates of this silly religion.

It is very hard to stomach reading the words of the self-deluded JW's explaining away their seeming flaws. Why? Because I SEE MYSELF there and I want to scream at them "SAVE YOURSELVES WHILE YOU CAN!"

The first hidding place of a devious person is in the logic!

"Diverse weights are an abomination to the LORD, and false scales are wrong." Proverbs 20:23

1.) JW's condenm every other religion on earth for false dates and label them as part of Babylon the Great and as false prophets doomed to destruction for their teachings.

2.) Anyone disagreeing with the doctrine being promoted at the time (Dates) is consider an aposated and is disfellowshipped.

3.) The average publisher within the thousands of congrecation of JW's has nothing to say or do with any of the doctrine being promoted from the GD/research committed. To state these are the views of JW's is a lie. It is the veiws of the GB and if a publisher's disagrees they will be disfellowshipped. They better go along with them blindly.

4.) The governing body does not take any responsibilty for their false teachings if so they would go back to the disfellowship files and bring back the thousands upon thousands of people that disgreed with the dates promoted over the last hundred years. And reinstated them.

5.) Any person that is a part of JW's is lying if they say they don't believe the word of the GB as coming from God. They say no one person of GB is inspired but as a whole the GB is the modern day word of God thats being given to mankind.

6.) JW's waits on that GB for new direction as to what God will be doing in the future as the Great Tribulation approachs. Direction will come through the GB on what action the congrecation must take.

Jehovah's Witnesses hold all other groups feet to the fire and then let themselves off with bibical logic as innocent victims eager to please God and just wanting find out what God is doing. At the same time ruining the lives of faithful brothers and sister for disagreeing with dates promoted.

If Jehovan's Witnesses were judged by the same judgment they are judging the worlds religions they would be found wanting. Sadly they have been convinced through logic not love that they have more of a right to eternal life in a new world then in other person on this earth. Hilter was morally condenmed by the whole world for the same superior attitude that distroyed lives of millions and frankly the Jehovah's Witnesses are fast approaching into the millions of people disfellowship.

Who has 100% of the truth on earth today? Who has purer water to drink? Is one drop of poision doctrine better the two in a glass of water? Should a person be forgiven by God for one drop and the person with two be condenm to eternal cutting off?

And what of the faithful that refused to drink the date of poision the, one drops, two drops, three drops weren't they killed spiritually and label apostates according to the group the ones drinks only purer water?

Who speak for that blood guilt?

"Do not rob the poor because he poor, nor oppress the afficted in the gate; for the Lord will plead their cause and He will take the life of those killing them." Prov. 22:23

"If someone then tells you, Look! here is the Christ! or There! do not believe him, for false Messiahs and false prophets shall be raised up and they with great signs and wonders to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

"He will then answer them, I assure you, so far as you failed to do it to one of these humblest, you failed to do it to Me. and they shall go away into eternal punishment, but the rigteous into eternal life."
