Sad, really, the hypocrisy and fakeness.

I made it a point to act the same way when the COs and DOs were around. Can't say the same for other servants and elders in my congregation.

This reminds me of a funny thing that happened. The CO was visiting, and my elder husband, who had a part on the meeting, was asked to work overtime on meeting night. He explained to his employer that he could not possibly work overtime that evening and his reason why, specifically mentioning the CO visit. His boss responded, "Tell me his name and phone number. I'll call him and get you out of it."

    "Live people just don't understand."

All the sisters would run and sign up at the chance at having the CO come over for dinner. What a priviledge. What do you cook that would possibly be good enough to serve the CO?

I also remember my elder father writing a check made out to the CO every time he visited. I asked him why once and he told me it was just to help him out since he only was given a small token allowance from the society. I wonder how many checks the CO received from the R&F?

Oh yes, I do remember those visits!!! The "love" coming from the elders those meetings were so fake it was sickening!! They would greet you at the door and shake your hand..."glad to see you"".."Good Evening!!" etc...Then the very next meeting after the CO leaves..it is all back to normal. You walk in and you would be considered "lucky" if you actually got a elder to talk with you!! And I was a MS's wife, and a very active one at that! So it wasn't that I was on the fringes, and they treated us different because we were weak. It is truely a "show" for the CO, and nothing more!!

    Sincerely,

When I became inactive and my meeting attendance started slipping, the only shepherding calls I ever got from the elders were right before the CO was scheduled to visit. Go figure.

Yup. I got a call the week before. The elders wanted to stop by and see me.

I got 3 calls the three weeks after his visit. The elders wanted to stop by and see me.

The calls have stopped for a couple of months now.

Should be helped more when weak, not looked down on......sanctimonious.

will add that it is sanctimonious of the jw to look down on anyone.

    Dear emptywords,

I am not sure by your statment above. I worry that I did not explain myself clearly, and you and others may have taken offense. If this is the case I apologise!

What I was trying to express, is that many times the weak get ignored, no matter how wrong it is, it is a fact. In most congregations I have been to, to get anyone to acknowledge you, you have to be in the thick of things so to speak, hold a position, or be a pioneer. Many times my girlfriend who was very irregular would say well "so and so talks to you because your regular" but yet they would hardly acknowledge her. It would make me upset, but I always tried to be of encouragement to her. Something the elders never did. A kind of attitude like you perform, then maybe we will encourage you. However in my last hall, they pretty much ignored everyone, and getting a real sincere, how are you etc..was like pulling teeth, no matter who you were or what you did. Then when the CO would visit the show began. Anyway...

I hope this clears up what I was trying to say.

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty
