Brigid and I were talking about something around this subject last night. The goal is balance, the Middle Pillar. The extreme (or core) of any thing contains within it the seed of its opposite. Yin/yang.
From the Christian standpoint, Satanism is evil. From the Satanist viewpoint, Christianity is Evil. (over-simplified, surely) Just as the Christ may be seen as the balancing force applied to the angry, mysogynistic, death-dealing god of the Old Testament, Lucifer (the light-bringing, the hidden light of the soul) is seen by many on the other side of the coin. By some, they are considered to be one and the same.
