I guess the thing i'm worried most about is if he could be potentially one added to the list of ones that turn their back on you if you leave.
I don't want to be negative -- just realistic. He probably will be one of those people who turn their back when you leave. It is what they are conditioned/programmed to do. Honestly, if you cut back on the relationship now before you fade, it might be less painful in the long run.

There's probably a 9 out of 10 chance that he'll drop you like a rag once you leave.
Sorry. But to stick with you would meen him losing all of HIS friends/family as well.
But that doesn't meen your life has to suck NOW, make the best of your life no matter where you are.
Personally I'm constantly making new friends and building my relationships with witnesses. Odds are all of them will ditch me. But maybe it'll make an impression when I leave if I'm widely liked. Either way, at least I have some semblance of a life now.
