If anyone dared bring her flowers, cooked her dinner or gave her a card they would have gotten an earful about how she doesn't celebrate and the JW take on her entire life.

My Brother who has never been a JW and looks and is tattooed as much as Richie Rich never fails to send her flowers and call. Guaranteed she is bitching about it.

My other brother is dead. She can't be gracious and accept anything from her remaining children. Just bad manners and a nasty attitude.

So I didn't even call her today.

Isn't this a great way to go through life???!!!! What warped personalities and perspectives this religion generates!!!!

    Yep.

So many lives and families ruined.

I have seen my mother once in the past 10 years, and spoken to her exactly.....0 times.

My son's girlfriend even called me and wished me a happy mothers day long distance. How sweet is that?

We sent my mother in law some beautiful flowers. How terrible is it that one day a year mothers are recognized? What pagan religious beliefs are involved here?

Just GB hate and fear of women......thats what the JW problem is.

Well what can you do if she won't accept the gifts, it is better not to bother giving unwanted gifts is not nice. The cult persuaded them that totaly innocent events like Christmas, birthdays and mother's day are sinister and satanic, they have an isolationist attitude they want to stand apart from the world and life.

    Sorry about that.

That cult really takes the joy out of the simple, joyful things in life.

Hey there restrangled. I deliberated a bit about it and decided not to send my mom anything afterall; instead, today I put together a bunch of little pastries for a bunch of the nice moms I work for and gave them the goodies wrapped in expensive, lovely floral napkins with a happy mother's day note to each. There are zillions of moms who will appreciate my gestures zillion times more than my mom would, and who might deserve them more, too! Sorry about your dilemma; it is a bit like mine, too. Hugs!

Although Mother's Day would be a nice time to at least say, "hey, mom . . . thinking of you . . . and thanks for trying . . ." or whatever . . . but thanks to a stupid religious cult, we get rebuffed for even that simple, kind gesture. What asses they are!

MQ...what a wonderful thing you did, and yes you are so right about the JW's.

The biggest gift would be to hear that their offspring are full fledged JW's. It would make their year.

    Sorry, ain't gonna happen!

And only a narcisistic parent would want their child to choose being miserable to give the parent peace of mind!

Loving parents want their kids to live their own lives, find their own bliss, and make their own mistakes; and they usually accept them, despite the mistakes and disappointments. Not so with most JW parents, thanks to brainwashing. Glad you've got your mom-in-law, res! Hope she enjoyed the flowers! BTW, did I wish you a happy mother's day? Happy Mother's Day, Re-! Hope your children remembered you today!
