I regret ever coming back to the meetings. I was baptized when I was 13 years old due to pressure and being told that anyone not baptized would be destroyed when ''the end'' was coming in 1975. I later quit attending and felt a relief when the end didn't come. The lies, too many meetings,be pounded to preach more and all their rules and regulations finally convinced me that I didn't belong there.

Around the early 80's,I started up again.(Don't ask me why) Now I see even more lies, more pressure to do more,no real love inside the Congregations, and the worship of the ''FAITHFUL and DISCREET SLAVE'' even more bothersome. Since fading is the only thing that works for me(my family are all Witnesses) the whole thing is getting to be unbearable.Just going to the meeting once a week is even difficult.

Did you rejoin and now regret it?

I haven't but a close friend of mine left when she was 18, married a 'worldly' guy and had 3 kids. When Shelley was about 29 or 30, she wanted to have a relationship with her parents so she not only came back, but her hubby studied too, got baptized and was made an elder. Eventually though, it wore her down. She knew it wasn't "the Truth" and could not put on the facade indefinitely of being the happy elders wife so she started doing The Fade. So did her husband. She was never bugged by the local elders about it, but two of her boys (now grown) became elders. They found out she had started smoking again and was (gasp!) celebrating birthdays and Xmas. In true cult fashion, they've basically cut ties with her and she's not allowed to see the grandkids anymore. Shelley has one son that's also out and he and his wife have two kids that she's close with.

Her parents live down east, came up to Toronto to visit family, but did not come and see her or their newest grandchildren even though they were visiting 'worldly' relatives that live just 3 streets away from where Shelley lives. The reason? Shelley's elder son informed his grandparents that his mother smoked and celebrated Xmas-----truly horrible behaviour eh? She had seen it coming for a long time and is both shocked and hurt by her parents' attitude. However, she will not be blackmailed anymore and sent them a letter telling them that if they could treat her that badly, then they shouldn't ever bother trying to contact her again---end of story.

Does she regret going back to the meetings when she was 30? You bet she does.

Just going to the meeting once a week is even difficult.

I just quit going after the Memorial. I set goals to reduce my meetings then monitored my goal.

Try skipping all the meetings in a week once in awhile, set a goal to do that every 4th to 6th week.

Continue progressing in the fade even if just slightly. If you make 4 meetings a month, decide when

to start averaging 3. Even if you have to go slow, set the goals and you will feel progress.

We just had a 2 day assembly last weekend and I didn't attend either one. I can't sit there for 8 hours and listen to all the lies they spew from the podium.

My mom called to see why I wasn't there.I told her I had to work all weekend. She told me how wonderful the program was and how we are living in the last days. Only 2 got baptized.

I was df'd when I was 18 (for not being a virgin, because...). I went back 3 years later because I missed my little sisters. I dropped my application for college cause the end was so near.

Now here I am 25 years later, no degree yet (working on it), crappy job, sick, and out of the org anyways. Can anyone say stupid?

    stupid! Stupid! STUPID!!!

Cog (runs screaming from room pounding own head cause she is stupid!)

ps: Why are there no emoticons of crazy people running away screaming?
