Their Assembly looks like a "Bingo"
"Yes! yes!" My wife's tears ran down her cheeks. " You must join the Witnesses like I did because the
world is going to end in two years! " She cried in 1973.
Yeah, they got her good; filled her mind and soul with it. She was the perfect victim . . .she loved God;
she was honest, trusting, giving,hungry for Bible knowledge,directed, intelligent, a hard worker . . .
everything that it took to spread the word about ' 75. She was correct. Our world did end in ' 75 , when
we divorced. Our kids are still crying.
What's that sign say in the back "Tastes of Disciples"? Is that a soylent lunch they're eating?
That's terribly sad story Tigerman, it's a shame how much of a grip they can get on people. :(
I began to study the WTS "bible study aids" in early 1970.....and was bold and fearless in telling ALL my nonJW friends and family how we had been TOLD that the END was coming in 1975! I was really pushy and aggressve...I was TOLD MY life and THEIRS was dependent on this knowledge and that they HAD to come into the WTS to be spared from terrible destruction that was coming that year!
I was baptized in July 1972.....and the next year the momentum was heightened and we were given 100 tracts each to place that talked about this URGENT MESSAGE....all to be placed within ten days....not even stopping to chat (preach) but to get QUICKLY into the public's hands.
My (then) nonJW friends that I soon dumped at the reccommendation of my WTS "spiritual leaders".....by then had given up on me AND my sanity.....but ONE longtime friend called to tell me that she would expect a call form ME on Januray 1, 1976. I had moved out of state by then...but I never forgot her words. She died before I ever got the chance to tell her what a total idiot I was for believing the WTS teachings, and how much I really DID value her friendship.
How many of us gave up so much for so little.....in dedicating ourselves to do the will of the men who run the Watchtower Society?
SL . . .yeah, Tastes of Disciples, a community event ! That's funny.
I would like to know how many people joined due to the ' 75 thing. Impossible to find out, probably. Even after all these years I find it hard to believe that people can be so naive as to hand over their hearts and souls to a man made organization.
