Ok, I have a copy of windows xp.........and a floppy that wont work when I boot..........so i was told to reboot, and hit F2 and change the booting sequence..........that doesnt work either..... it just keeps rebooting in normal mode. Any one wanna help?

Are you sure you want to format? That will destroy everything on the hard drive.
If you're sure that you want to, put the XP cd in your cd drive and reboot - no need for a floppy.
If it won't boot to the CD-ROM forst, you will need to change the boot order. This must be done by entering the computer's BIOS. This is done by pressing a specific key on boot-up. It varies from computer to computer, but the most common are DEl, F2, or F10. You should see a brief message on bootup telling you what key is appropriate for your computer.
When you can get into your BIOS, look through the options until you find the section that deals with boot order (sequence, etc.). Change it to reflect that you want the machine to boot from CD-ROM first.
OK, then you should be able to boot from the CD.
Follow the instructions to do a clean/full install and pick the appropriate hard drive when prompted. Click next until done.
There's no going back once you start a format (for the most part).

Try holding down the F2 key when you first boot and hold it down even if it makes a ticking sound ,then arrow up to safe mode with c:/ prompt and press enter . This gives a page with the heading CMD.exe and then type format X: where x is the name of the drive you format.Hope it works

Yes, my computer is restored, and running like a dream!
But imagine me sitting here, not knowing anything, and hitting a button to delete everything from my computer! Not knowing whether or not it will load windows.......and worse yet, once it formatted, I realized I had no current disc for my modem!!!!! I came to a point for choosing networking, or automatically connecting to the internet........I flipped a coin......JK, and chose the internet one and crossed my fingers!
I was so proud of my blonde self when it was done, and we clicked on the internet button, and it came up!
At least I learned something new! lol
