I've been kind of sad the past few days for several reasons, but, there are certain songs that just cause the tears to flow whenever I hear them (and especially alone).

    • Only Time by Enya. I know that this song is often linked to the Sept 11 attacks, but it really is just so hauntingly beautiful.
    • Vieni Vieni by Rudy Valle. Perhaps some of you won't recognize the song by the title, as it is a very old song from the 1930's. (I LOVE music from the '20's '30's, and '40's). If you ever watched the movie "It's a Wonderful Life", they play a clip of this song in the background. After George Baily finds out about the missing money, he goes to Martini's bar, and right before he get's punched in the mouth, there are people in the bar that are singing this song in the background. The Rudy Valle version (I think it's the original) is just so sentimental to me, and just puts a lump in my throat.
    • Angel Eyes by Jeff Healy. It just reminds me of my beautiful wife and wondering what she's doing with a clown like me.

What songs make you cry, especially when you are down in the dumps?

    Wind Beneath My Wings

I even get teary-eyed when I think about it. It was Kristi's song. She danced with her father on her wedding day to this song. She was my last patient and died almost 2 yrs ago. It doesn't seem that long ago.

    Claudio Baglioni-Sabato Pomeriggio

HEATHER NOVA "I'm Alive"Your hands were covered in paint
    The pillow smothered my cry
You were half charmer half snake
    I lived in dreamtime

But I'm alive; I survived you
And the bitter taste, the years I wasted
    All the hate is gone
    'Cause I'm Alive

Some nights I'd sleep in the car
    Just to escape you
    You drove devotion too far
    No-one could save you

But I'm alive; I survived you
And the bitter taste, the years I wasted
    All the hate is gone
    'Cause I'm Alive

I still have visions of you
I still have nights to get through
And when the trust isn't true
I have these visions of you, visions of you

But I'm alive; I survived you
And the bitter taste, the years I wasted
All the hate is gone cause I'm alive
    Ride on and fade away
    There's nothing more to say
    Ride on and fade away
    There's nothing more to say

    Angel

Spend all your time waiting for that second chance for a break that would make it okay there's always one reason to feel not good enough and it's hard at the end of the day I need some distraction oh beautiful release memory seeps from my veins let me be empty and weightless and maybe I'll find some peace tonight in the arms of an angel fly away from here from this dark cold hotel room and the endlessness that you fear you are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie you're in the arms of the angel may you find some comfort there so tired of the straight line and everywhere you turn there's vultures and thieves at your back and the storm keeps on twisting you keep on building the lie that you make up for all that you lack it don't make no difference escaping one last time it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees in the arms of an angel fly away from here from this dark cold hotel room and the endlessness that you fear you are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie you're in the arms of the angel may you find some comfort there you're in the arms of the angel may you find some comfort here
