Fading Music

If there was only one CD you could choose that helped you through the time you were fading from one set of choices to another, which one would it be? Just one now.

Mine would be Cheryl Crow-Wildflower. Of course there were others, but I limited this to just one. There are several songs on there that helped me express my feelings.

Then, I also relistened to all my old music. Funny thing is, when I listened to Wildflower today, I felt I was remembering something from the past. So, I think I have totally faded.

My old music now has two fullfillments. It reminds me of my teen years and my time spent fading. I guess that would be the typical and the anti-typical fullfillments of my music.

It wasn't the fading music but just over the last few years i have found a few songs that had made me think this is how i am feeling about all the hurt that had happened and that sometimes think this has been a life saver.

More so when things are not going right i have to listen to it all it just makes it more bareable.

I found a band called Drowning Pool (BTW this is what i am listening to at this very second) and everything just clicked on how i felt and am feeling.

But really anything by Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Staind helps as well.

totally man. music is a serious part of the emotional side of deconversion.

i can't say that a certain cd represented the quest per se, but some songs certainly did.

    - old man, by n. young. this song hit me hard when i listened to it in terms of Jehovah being my father, and how i had taken on his pathologies, as his child.

    - imagine, j. lennon. (obvious)

    b. dylan, t. waits, b. marley

i had some others on one of my first threads: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/27/89570/1.ashx

    Fleetwood Mac - Rumors

Every song is great, but a few just for fading.

    GO YOUR OWN WAY

"You can go your own way

    Go your own way"

    NEVER GOIN' BACK AGAIN

    "Been down one time

    Been down two times

    I'm never going back again"

    DON'T STOP

"If you wake up and don't want to smile,

If it takes just a little while,

Open your eyes and look at the day,

You'll see things in a different way.

    Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,

Don't stop, it'll soon be here,

    It'll be, better than before,

    Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone."

    SECOND HAND NEWS

    "Been down so long

    I've been tossed around enough

    Couldn't you just

Let me go down and do my stuff"

My Way by Los Lonely Boys:

    I don't need no fortune
    I don't need no fame
    That's all just an illusion
To me it don't mean a thing

You can try and deceive me
But I see right through your skin
And what you're trying to tell me
Is something I don't believe in

Don't tell me how to live my life
Don't tell me how to pray
Don't tell me how to sing my song
Don't tell me what to say

    Cuz I believe that miracles
    happen every day
I don't care what you say,
I'm gonna do it my way

You say you have all the answers
And I should do it your way
How many times do I have to tell you
    I ain't no puppet on a string
    Listen to me...

Don't tell me how to live my life
Don't tell me how to pray
Don't tell me how to sing my song
Don't tell me what to say
    Cuz I believe that miracles
    happen every day
I don't care what you say,
I'm gonna do it my way
I'm gonna do it my way
    What'd you say

    Ohhhhhhhhh
    Ohhhhhhhhh
    Ohhhhhhhhh

Don't tell me how to live my life
Don't tell me how to pray
Don't tell me how to sing my song
Don't tell me what to say

Don't tell me how to live my life
Don't tell me how to pray
Don't tell me how to sing my song
Don't tell me what to say

    Cuz I believe that miracles
    happen every day

I don't care what you say
I'm gonna do it my way
I'm gonna do it my way
Ohhhhhhh I'm gonna do it my way

    INTERVENTION

The king’s taken back the thrown
    The useless seed is sewn
Then they say they’re cutting off the phone
We'll tell them we’re not home

    No place to hide
You’re fighting as a solider on their side
You’re still a soldier in your minds
    But nothing's on the line

Say it’s money that we need
As if there were only mouths to feed
And knowing no matter what you say
There’s some debts you’ll never pay

Working for the church while your family dies
They take what they give you and they keep it inside
Every spark of friendship and love
    Will die without a home
    Hear the soldier groan
    Or go at it alone

    I can taste the fear
Lift me up and take me out of here
Don’t want to fight, don’t want to die
Just want to hear you cry

Who’s going to throw the very first stone?
Oh, who’s going to reset the bone?
Walking with your head in a sling
Want to hear the soldier sing

Working for the church while my family dies
Your little baby sister’s going lose her mind
Every spark of friendship and love
    Will die without a home
    Hear the soldier groan
    We’ll go at it alone

    I can taste you fear
It’s going to lift you up and take you out of here
And the bone shall never heal
And I cannot make you kneel

    We can’t find you now
But they’re going to get their money back somehow
    And when you finally disappear
Will they say you were never here?

You’re working for the church while your life falls apart
Singing, “Hallelujah,” with the fear in your heart
Every spark of friendship and love
    Will die without a home
    Hear the soldier groan
    We’ll go at it alone

    Hear the soldier groan
    We’ll go at it alone

This is Intervention a new song by the Arcade Fire of Montreal.

The writer and lead singer was raised a Mormon and has sinced liberated himself from it. Music means different things to different people, but I can really identify with these lyrics.
