As the moon began entering the earths shadow it gradually turned from white to black. The most interesting part was near total eclipse when the black colour began turning to reddish. And again when the moon started coming out of the earth's shadow and the reddish colour began changing back to black. We can often see a red moon as it dawns but not when its in mid sky so this is strange. Sunlight reaching it during total eclipse goes through the earth's atmoshere and changes to red before going on to the moon hence its colour.
