My Baby's Kiss Soft and silky on my lips.
So warm and smooth my heart does flips.
Only one thing can bring such bliss:
The sensual touch of my baby’s kiss.
Here eyes are pure and deep and bright.
Her arms a cocoon that holds me tight.
Between the two, nothing’s amiss.
But they can’t compare to her hungry kiss.
I have traveled to old Paris –
Walked the Champses Elysee
I return there when I reminisce.
But I fast return to my baby’s kiss.

I'm feeling lurved up, but not in THAT sense (darn it). No, I'm finally in love with myself. I'm happy with who I am and how I'm taking care of myself for the first time....ever. Take today for instance. I'm kind of the secretary for my monthly writer's group. I say kind of because I don't have the title, per se, I just end up doing the minutes every month and sending out email with our yearly goals. This time last year, I was too depressed to even think about doing the minutes and the goals, but today, I sat down and finished them up and sent them out. I also finished up the rough draft for a story I sold to a local magazine here in Rochester. I wrote a poem.
I don't really know how to explain it but between standing up to that goofy watchtower and standing up to the guy who was harrassing me at work (and insisting that it be dealt with), I'm riding a wave of confidence that I've never before experienced.
Oh, and it gets better. I went on a date with a girl who asked me out in December. We went on one date and while she's a nice person, she is WAY too religious for me and so I thanked her for asking me out but told her I didn't think there was a connection there. She seemed OK with it. Well, I've seen her in three different places the last three days and each one she's been with a different guy. I hope it doesn't sound mean, but I feel so competent by how I dealt with that situation. Instead of trying to be nice or fearing how someone would respond and not telling them how I really feel, I told her what was on my mind with as much tact and respect as I could muster, and the whole thing was a one hundred percent postive dating experience. When I finally do get ready for dating again, I know I can do it.

Very nice poem AB!!! I like that.
You are in a good place now AB. You dismissed her when you realized she was involved w/stuff that you weren't. You weren't afraid to let go like you were before. I am really proud of you. Some of us "old people" haven't quite got that yet. You have found your passion (writing and poetry) and you are good at it. Having good self esteem will help in finding that right lady. You won't waste your emotions on those not deserving.
Best to you. You are doing great!
Hugs,
Juni

Yeah. I've learned enough not to continue with something that has too much built in tension. It's a very satisfying feeling to get off the fence about things and just live.
So thanks for your kind words. But don't count yourself out though. There is no age limit to being true to yourself and your feelings.

Mate that is beautiful, you should start publishing some of your stuff. Heck, reading some of it I get the idea it could be almost offered to music industry as lyrics for their songs even if it weren't your original intention
Heck, you could be rich before you know it ;)
Just a thought
