Flights from Glasgow to Stornoway (GLA > SYY) aren't too prohibitive if bought well in advance, coming in at less that 100. The Oban route is arduous, and not to be recommended, with the first boat trip lasting over 5 hours!!! It beats even Ullapool to Stornoway at 2.45 hours.

There's a Dallas, New York, Glasgow route, as well. It just depends how far in advance you book, season and which route you choose, as to prices. There are some deals to be had.

I'm taking the next exam in the last series for my Masters in Inverness; popping down to Glasgow; then catching a flight to Dallas via London. Its set me back approximately $800, which isn't at all bad for May.

Bloody hell Ross that is good - especially as sterling buys almost 2 dollars at the moment - I remember the scary days of early 1980s when there was for about 1 day 1.03 dollars per pound - that was scary. At the time Reagan/Thatcher were in power and crusie missiles at Greenham Common crisis plus Trident upgrade at Faslane Scotland I truly and honestly believed Armageddon was going to happen extremely soon

The Isle of Skye, that is the route I would take, it may be longer but my favorite drink comes from there, Talisker Wisky. Speaking of which, when I am done here I will have a dram.

The one in Plantersville is in October/November. This one is outside Dallas and runs April/May. I've been to both and they are equally nice, though the one is Plantersville is a bit bigger I think. Here is the link to the site giving some info on the one we are getting married at:

I already have a trip to Orlando for an internet party that weekend... flights and hotel already booked...

other wise I would have loved to have joined the fun..

Xena, I'm sorry I never got back to Texas.. always did want to come and meet ya face to face.. pretty sure I won't get there now till after the wedding if I am lucky..

I lived in Orlando for awhile, fun town. Have you been before Sassy? Sorry you can't make the fest though.

Ross still wants to visit Cali at some point so I'm sure we will be making our way there at some point, besides this gives you an excuse to come to Scotland. Men in kilts, need I say more???
