Metallica - One (not a love song, but a song about death or the wanting of it because of the pain we feel)

Yeah, "one" is a pretty heartbreaking tune. So is Sanitarium.

The '80's..............my god...........they were some of the best years of my life...........I was in my mid 20's, working out at the gym 3 times a week, walking 2 to 3 times a week............I was fit, slim, trim...........went to Hawaii in '86, in awesome shape, and saw some of the most beautiful sights of my life...........music, music..........loved the Cars........."Who's gonna drive you home.........tonite?" Men At Work........"Do you come from a land downunder? Where the women glow and men chunder?" and, then there was the whole new computer craze............we weren't even dreaming of an internet yet...........well, except for Bill Gates and his cronies..................

Just a few that I cried a river to, during the 80's:
    (
usually after leaving a g/f to go home, or after breaking up)

"Always on my Mind" - Pet Shop Boys
"I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues" - Elton John
"Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" - Soft Cell
"Seven Tears" - Goombay Dance Band
    "The Final Countdown" - Europe
"The Road to Hell" - Chris Rhea

Classic, blood-pumping, pedal to the metal, get ya over it songs:

"Born to be Wild" - Steppenwolf
    "The Race" - Yello

And one to make you cry because it was so appalling:

Don't Give Up - Kate Bush

Am I supposed to cry to "One"? Cause that song drives me into a head-bangin' frenzy!!

I have a penchant for listening to music backwards, and the transition to the solo at the end of the song sounds really beautiful backwards....I've used it here:
