Mary, I love the picture of the brother carrying a load.
Being a witness is a load. (Pun intended.)

Add to some of the mentioned burdens-
While attending assemblies and conventions, do not run
out for fast-food, but bring sandwiches- even if you traveled
    far.

Do not go to college, and even though you make less hourly
money, don't work overtime. At the same time, donate more
money. HOW? Don't take pleasure vacations, keep
entertainment and home electronics to a minimum, delete
hobbies, get practical cars instead of sports cars.

Actually these two are designed to lighten the load-
    19. Show respect to elders, even if they are uneducated,
    unqualified and wrong.
    20. Never question anything, never seem to question anything,
    never even remotely look questionable.

With obedience to these two, you don't have to research the
organization, you don't have to do anything but say "Yes" to
any teachings from the mags or mtgs. The only drawback is
when you get depressed or have doubts, the mags and the
elders aren't much help, but then THAT'S YOUR FAULT.
