My wife works this evening and I don't really feel like working on music. Can anyone recommend a DVD to rent? I like comedy, drama, or documentaries. I'm not really into action or horror, though I don't mind a good suspense film. I'm looking forward to an evening all by myself next to the fireplace in pyjamas with a big bowl of popcorn and a stiff drink! Thanks!

p.s. I also don't really need porn recommendations.

Try 'Identity' (not the Bourne Identity).

It's definately not comedy but will fit your bill for drama 100%. The idea is simple, there are twists and surprises and ending you won't see coming.

John Cusack and Ray Liotta star.

If you haven't seen it, "Little Miss Sunshine" is great. Comedy and drama rolled into one. Everyone I've recommended it to has loved it.

And it scored a whopping 92% on the "Rotten Tomatoes" site, which is a very high rating.

    Hi Tall Penguin,

Little Miss Sunshine was the last movie I rented. I found it really refreshing... It was great. I'm asking for advice because it feels when I go into a rental place my brain gets sucked out of my head. I just wander about aimlessly and nothing looks good.

You sure you're in Blockbuster and didn't wander into the Kingdom Hall by mistake?

WW2 german film about a submarine crew- dubbed in english- Das Boot or maybe called, The Boat, in English

A Boy and his Dog- early 70's hard to find , but worth it.

    LOL!

I've seen all their videos. The production quality sucks. Have you ever seen "Respect Jehovah's Authority"? I have it on VHS. I remember how proud they were of the CGI "special effects." The acting was akin to the arm flailing you would see at any D.C. drama.

Glad you liked LMS. Great film.

    Okay, in no particular order:

Dummy (Adrien Brody & Milla Jovovich) Comedy

Team America (Wooden Marionettes) Very crude comedy by the writers of "South Park". You'll either totally love it or be so offended you will never ask me for movie recommendations again. ;)

Spanglish (I agree with Terry on this one. Surprising performance by Adam Sandler. May make you a bit melancholy though.)
