I remember once when I was a teenager my mother told me that she couldn't love me the way I wanted her to. I didn't want much, a little bit of affection and a few "I love you" every once in awhile instead of the distain I got most of the time which still continues to this day. Now when she says "I love you" I don't believe her. I don't doubt that she thinks she loves me but her so-called love just turns me off. Ugh.

Now with my kids it's totally different. The love and affection I desperately wanted from my parents I now give to my kids. I say "I love you" all of the time. I give out hugs and kisses. And I get all that and more in return from my kids 4 times over. Sad, my parents don't know what they're missing.

Never heard it from my Dad or Mom never said it to them either to this day.

Good question makes you think, Hey they got us to the meetings what else did we need.

Between me and my wife and son it is freely said.
