Thanks Amazing for explaining the difference between Polonium and Plutonium. Never knew that.

Isn't this whole thing odd though? Where would the former Russian spy come in contact w/this or would he have been purposely contaminated? And how?

    So curious.

    Latest on this subject.

Italian professor is sick w/polonium 210 poisoning. He was the one that the Russian spy was meeting with.

As Amazing said this is a by-product. Only 2 countries have it stored (?). Canada and Russia.

Of course it's not the Canucks so that leaves Russia. Their former Prime Minister who was at a meeting in Ireland was sent back to Russia sick also.

Could it be the Russian government? or the Chechuns (sp?)trying to frame the Russian gov't?

    Got Polonium 210?

Polonium-210? it's yours for $69, no questions asked

    Tony Halpin in Moscow
The radioactive poison used to kill the former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko is being offered for sale over the internet for less than £40.

A company in the US claims to supply polonium-210 to anyone for just $69 plus postage and packing. A three-pack set of “alpha, beta, gamma” radioactive isotopes also includes polonium-210

from the healthy-breakfast-shakes dept. ScienceNews Knutsi writes "InformationWeek is reporting that Polonium 210, the radioactive material used to poison former KGB spy Alexander Litvinenko is not as hard to get your hands on as some have previously stated. American family business United Nuclear is actually selling the stuff, and other equally exotic materials, on their company website. Could come in handy for the xmas shopping season." http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/11/29/169254&from=rss

    Polonium:-

Discovered by Marie Curie, named after her homeland Poland to highlight domination by Russia, Germany and Austria.

Use of this poison may have obscure historical/political significance.

and there's a sucker born every minute.

I hope what you say is true. I just don't understand how that much Polonium 210 got spread around London?

Traces of radiation have been found in several passenger aircraft and at several places in London, some of which Alexander Litvinenko -- a critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin -- visited before his death.

    I wonder if it's a white powder?
