How much water would have to be stored just for the elephants?
I found online that an elephant requires 140 to 200 liters of water a day, so taking the low value 140 and multiplying by 2 (2 elephants), we need 280 liters a day just for the elephant couple.
So for a whole year, 365*280= 102,200 liters would be required.
102,200 liters of water is equal to:
102,200 Kilograms, or
26,998 gallons (US), or
225,308 pounds, or
112.6 tons!
This amount of water would require storage space of about 3,609 cubic feet or 102.2 cubic meters!!!
And this is only for the elephants!
In addition to building the ark, the collection and storage of the vast amount of fresh water required would be a huge undertaking! Even if a source of fresh water was at hand, how long would it take to store away 27,000 gallons of water needed just for the elephants?
