I appreciate your reply Ann. Thanks. As long as you aren't out peddling the terror, I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciates that too!

My ex was a perfect example of a JW... on the outside.

After she bailed out of her marriage to 'one who turned to Satan and became apostate' several neighbors came by to wish me well and congratulate me for 'booting' her out (she left on her own... twice). Facts came out after she bailed that she helped herself to neighbors' property, walked her dogs in their yards instead of ours, crticized them for celebrating Christmas, shunned them at Christmas and sucked up the rest of the year, etc.

Yep, a perfect example of a whitewashed grave.

I knew a sister who was one of the "annointed." She invited me to her home one day to "get better acquainted." I was impressed that she took any notice of me at all (I was young and stupid then). During the two hours I spent in her company, I was treated, not to the uplifting spiritual insights I expected to hear, but to a nonstop no-holds-barred vicious gossip monologue that spared no one in our cong. I stumbled out of there a shaken but wiser JW.

A regular pioneer, elder's wife who was always dressed to the 9n's and gosipped about everybody, but if you stopped by her house she could not let you in because it was a filthy mess. She also looked through her husband's briefcase to find info on judical issues and gave the info to her best friend, who then told everyone else.

The "perfect family", dad an MS, mom a regular pioneer, 2 sons in bethel, daughter future reg. pioneer. Dad was a doctor addicted to Demerol.

A teenaged boy (very affeminate), handles microphones and other small responsibiliies at KH. Among other witness teenagers uses foul language. At school and at work everyone says he is gay. At school he told a friend he was caught shoplifting at the mall...

My mother was an entirely different person at the meetings. She seemed happy, considerate, and enjoyable to be around. But at home, she was mean, nasty, and cursed like a sailor.

That was my mom, too. At the meetings we were the perfect family. But at home, it was totally the opposite. Mom denies it. Still thinks she was the perfect mom. Boy, wished I lived in her fantasy!! NOT!!

There is a saying that "evil hides in the darkness". It is very true. When something is wrong in your life, whether big or small, and you hide it - it doesn't get better, it only grows worse. When you don't confront it, it doesn't get resolved.

The counsel in the bible to confess our sins to one another was meant to be a protection and help to us. True friends that we can confess our fears, problems, or doubts to can be like a counselor to us - helping us to uncover the root causes of a problem. You who have real friends you can trust know what I'm talking about. Someone who will be honest with you - but still love you and stick with you.

The org. has taken those scriptures and twisted them to become a source of their own power to control and manipulate - they have taken it away from individuals. The rank and file are too afraid to be honest with their life and their feelings to one another. So, the ultimate outcome is that their problems are not resolved, but hidden, only to grow and become worse.

This is why the congregations are so full of "hidden evil".

Ha! No fear! My conscience stretches to many things but it does have limits.

I had a roomie who was full-time pioneer (I was just the reg publisher who worked full time {gasp}!) One night I went to bed early and I woke up to voices in the living room...male voices. I got dressed and go out to see what is going on and mz spiritual has 6 worldly guys parked in our living room and they are drinking. Now I am sure it was all perfectly innocent--perhaps a bible study ? Then there were all the phone calls from men who met her at the restaurant she worked. My particular favorite would be the sexy lingerie she ordered from a porn shop to keep her "cool" in the heat of summer while she went out in service. Did I mention she did drugs or that one weekend while we were away she let her brother have a party at our house without my knowledge? I had fun cleaning up all the liquor bottles, cigarette butts, and listening to the neighbors describe calling the police.

The elders reaction? They said I needed to talk to her and really, without proof, they could do nothing. She in turn went to them and told them I was doing those things--guess who got counseled? Guess who they believed?

You find this same crap in any group of people. We all wear masks to some degree. The thing that makes it most reprehensible among JW's is the fact that it is their behavior that is held up as the identifying mark of "True Christianity". When they fall, it takes the sincere a while to get over it. So many are held up as "Examples" when in fact they are simply fractured human personalities like most others. I agree, if they could talk about these problems they might improve. High control groups are often the most out of control in secret.

Does this mean that the church of Satan members do nice things at home and dont admit it?
