The UN is the bureaucracy to end all bureaucracies. It's about the biggest joke on the planet. What does the UN ever do? They write strongy worded letters and "express outrage." That's about it. What a total joke.
Does anyone see the UN as having any power?

Even according to its charter, it only has the power granted to it by its members. Especially the Security Council. But, as others here have pointed out, only the US lends real power to the UN in any effectual sense. Should the world ever have a cause behind which they can unite, through the voice of the UN and under the control of the UN their will can be done. However, the member nations cannot generally endorse a UN policy that conflicts with the will of their peoples.
I hope that the UN disbands. Something like that would be a huge wake-up call to my family. They cannot forget the role the UN is to play in prophecy and remind each other frequently by speculating on the outcome of this or that action of the UN and "where it might lead."
