A funny JW gambling story

I have to tell a funny gambling story. I love to gamble, but have slowed and stopped recently because it has hurt me. But here is the story. I used to go and gamble a lot. On several occasions I saw an elder (I believe he is an elder but maybe just a well respected older JW) and his wife in this gambling town. Now there is not a lot to do in this particular town but gamble. So for the first several times I saw them his wife would tell me "we are not here to gamble but have this or that business deal to do". I knew better.

One day, I went to my favorite little ghost town casino, put a few dollars in to start playing, tipped my chair up to my machine with my bottle of water propped on my machine, then went to the bar to get me a glass of wine. When I came back, here was this Sister of the brother or maybe I think Elder sitting at my machine playing. I cheefrully said hello ..... She looked at me and said "oh hi, I came up here with .... (hubby) to finish the ...deal, we are not gambling. I said, oh ok, but you just played my $5. She gave it back to me.

Several times since I have seen both playing the machines, little amounts, I give in to that. But they always tell me why they are not gambling. I like them. They have always been nice to me. I feel sorry for Mr. because he is so embarrassed each time. I don't really care. But I remember once my Mom told me that it made MR. feel sick that wasn't active anymore. It makes me laugh and makes me sad because they are nice people and I don't think they are doing so wrong but they are in such denial. They both are actually very fun. Believe it or not, I originally met them in a little bar. But I feel they can't just be fun and happy because of an act. Just sharing tonight.

Gambling seems to be quite common, I have caught a few JWs on the Pokies. The perceived JW is very different from the JW behind closed doors.

One of my relatives was caught gambling shortly after being baptised. She claimed she did not know it was wrong so they annulled her baptism and then rebaptised her. lol. what a crazy legalistic religion.

(hehe) Deniel...works for so many.... that's the same logic that makes it ok to turn in a winning lottery ticket that you 'found' My bro in law and his friend claimed to have found a winning lottery ticket,, they called an elder, who said that it's ok, as they only found it, and did not buy it themselves. Personally, I don't believe for a second that they found it,, I think they bought it and just wanted to cover their butt in regards to where this newfound money came from.

WTF? Does that mean I can annul my baptism? I won't be holding my breath,, I already know the answer. What a stupid religion.

Are you serious? ( LOL ) They annulled her baptism? I've never heard of that. In that case, they probably should have annulled the baptisms of everybody who has ever been reproved for hanky-panky.

I wish they would. I know of three people that had their baptisms annulled, so requested it for myself as a way to avoid being d/f (didn't work for me). It is a far better option that being d/f

Wow, not only gambling but stealing too!

Do you think these guys have any other nasty little habits? Maybe they go on to a share a hooker after they have done the fruities!

And then out on field service the next day to say sorry to god.
