I just went to the DC and was interested about the announcement that donation checks should be made payable to Watch Tower in 2 seperate words. I don't recall this being announced that way before. With the emphasis on the 2 seperate words. It was also said that the convention was arranged by the watch Tower Bible and Tract society of Pensylvania. This also seems different. Anybody else notice it? seek2find
DC announcement about Donantions
I believe some of their official organizations are listed with 2 words and some with 1 word. Sounds like the announcement is to ensure they can funnel the funds to one of their organizations vs the other.
Was this announcement made at all conventions? Where was yours, OP? I'm curious what's up with the $.
I went to the one at "The Ranch" in Colorado USA seek2find
Personally, I wouldn't have thought it would matter how 'Watchtower' is written on a cheque. If I didn't know better, I'd think it's just a (not so) subtle way of telling the R&F to get their cheque books out!
It's the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society of Pennsylvania
the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York
Yippee! I win the trivia prize for today!
OK, Johnny, what do we have for our lucky contestant?
An autographed 1995 Watchtower Bound Volume, autographed by the oracle himself!
A couple years back the Watch Tower society had their charitable name officially changed from Watchtower here in Canada.
yes, it was announced at other dc also
Actually, it is in the WT (2003) and KM announcements (2002) every year.

Checks sent to the above address should be made payable to "Watch Tower."

Donations made by check and put in the local Kingdom Hall contribution boxes for the worldwide work and the Kingdom Hall Fund should be made payable to "Jehovah’s Witnesses." Donations made by check at district conventions and those sent to the branch office should be made payable to "Watch Tower." The branch office financial address is Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, c/o Office of Secretary and Treasurer, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201-2483.
The district conventions are a first party fundraiser for the Watch Tower Corporation. The circuit assemblies are a second party fundraiser for the Watch Tower Corporation and a first party fundraiser for the circuit. Ya all didn't think the assemblies were for religious reasons did ya? These are sales rallies and fundraisers.
This thread clearly shows the division between the Watch Tower Corporation and Jehovah's Witnesses. I predict there will be a third receiving entity in the future.
As much as the Watch Tower Corporation dislikes Jehovah's Witnesses, I look for a real split in the future. It might be 50 years into the future, but I doubt it takes that long.
