    U2-ONE

    Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
    You got someone to blame

    You say
    One love
    One life
    When it's one need
    In the night
    It's one love
    We get to share it
    It leaves you baby
If you don't care for it

    Did I disappoint you?
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without

    Well it's too late
    Tonight
    To drag the past out
    Into the light
    We're one
    But we're not the same
We get to carry each other
    Carry each other
    One

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head
    Did I ask too much
    More than a lot
    You gave me nothing
    Now it's all I got
    We're one
    But we're not the same
    We hurt each other
    Then we do it again

    You say
    Love is a temple
    Love a higher law
    Love is a temple
    Love the higher law
    You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
    To what you got
When all you got is hurt

    One love
    One blood
    One life
You got to do what you should

    One life
    With each other
    Sisters
    Brothers

    One life
    But we're not the same
We get to carry each other
    Carry each other
    One... one...

    Hey Sunny

Well i find myself agreeing here. Not a massive U2 fan but ONE is their best song IMO and it's also the song of theirs that i enjoy singing the most, it's part of my repetoire (i'm a musician/guitarist). I love to belt it out and feel the song fly out of my lungs.....'love is a temple, love the higher law'.....

A classic in that gospel tradition that they did so well with I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.

    Peace

I like the early U2 stuff, and I agree that is one of their very best, along with most of the tracks on the Joshua Tree. My personal favourite is this one:

    Running to Stand Still

    And so she woke up
Woke up from where she was lying still
Said I got to do something about where we're going
    Step on a steam train
Step out of the driving rain
Maybe run from the darkness in the night
Singing ha la la la di day - ha la la la di day

    Sweet the sin
Bitter the taste in my mouth
    I see seven towers
But I only see one way out
You got to cry without weeping
    Talk without speaking
    Scream without raising your voice
You know I took the poison from the poison stream
Then I floated out of here
Singing ha la la la di day - ha la la la di day

    She runs through the streets
    With her eyes painted red
Under black belly of cloud in the rain
In through a doorway she brings me
White gold and pearls, stolen from the sea
She is raging - she is raging
And the storm blows up in her eyes
She will suffer the needle chill
She is running to stand still

Not a U2 fan at all, but I do like that one...a little smoke...a little wine...good tune.

My fav U2 song is with or without you (yes I know, 80's time warp!), I love it and sing it with my band.

Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
    And I'm waiting for you

    With or without you
    With or without you
    I can't live
    With or without you

    And you give yourself away
    And you give yourself away
    And you give
    And you give
    And you give yourself away

    My hands are tied
My body bruised, he's got me with
    Nothing to win and
    Nothing left to lose

    And you give yourself away
    And you give yourself away
    And you give
    And you give
    And you give yourself away

    With or without you
    With or without you
    I can't live
    With or without you

U2's music has gotten me through a lot of rough days. Especially this one...

    Walk On

    And love
    It's not the easy thing
    The only baggage
    That you can bring
    Not the easy thing
The only baggage you can bring
Is all that you can't leave behind

And if the darkness is to keep us apart
And if the daylight feels like it's a long way off
And if your glass heart should crack
Before the second you turn back
    Oh no, be strong

    Walk on
    Walk on
What you got, they can't steal it
No they can't even feel it

    Walk on
    Walk on
    Stay safe tonight

    You're packing a suitcase for a place
    None of us has been
A place that has to be believed
    To be seen

    You could have flown away
    A singing bird
    In an open cage
    Who will only fly
    Only fly for freedom

    Walk on
    Walk on
    What you got
    You can't deny it
Can't sell it or buy it

    Walk on
    Walk on
    Stay safe tonight

    And I know it aches
    How your heart it breaks
You can only take so much

    Walk on
    Walk on

    Home
Hard to know what it is
    If you never had one
    Home
I can't say where it is
    But I know I'm going
    Home
    That's where the hurt is

    And I know it aches
    And your heart it breaks
You can only take so much
    Walk on

    Leave it behind
You've got to leave it behind...

U2 -All I want is you

    You say you want
Diamonds on a ring of gold
    You say you want
    Your story to remain untold

But all the promises we make
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

    You say you'll give me
A highway with no one on it
Treasure just to look upon it
All the riches in the night

    You say you'll give me
Eyes in a moon of blindness
A river in a time of dryness
    A harbour in the tempest
But all the promises we make
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

    You say you want
Your love to work out right
To last with me through the night

    You say you want
Diamonds on a ring of gold
    Your story to remain untold
Your love not to grow cold

    All the promises we break
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

    You...all I want is...
    You...all I want is...
    You...all I want is...
    You...

ONE is very powerful. I had to read the lyrics really fast to avoid reacting.

it's part of my repetoire (i'm a musician/guitarist). I love to belt it out and feel the song fly out of my lungs.....'love is a temple, love the higher law'.....

ha me too...along with acoustic kite, running to stand still, so cruel, whos gonna ride your wild horses, stuck in a moment, faraway so close, gone, all i want is you, angel of harlem, walk on

at one of the flats i lived in the upstairs neighbour came and introduced himself and said he thought it was records i was playing and was well impressed at the fact it was me singing...not as impressed as me tho..

i have seen u2 4 times...the unforgettable fire tour in edinburgh...as a backdrop unbeknown to them the setting sun was blood red..

the pop (i loved that cd) tour - edinburgh again - with the giant lemon and the worlds biggest tv etc

the last tour... glasgow - brilliant visuals disappointing sound

but the best ever gig i saw in my life (equalled only by pink floyd's the wall) was at parkhead glasgow during the zoo-tv tour. the musical content was fantastic, the sound terrific, the visuals were stunning - the huge wall of tvs, the russian cars headlights as search beams, the crusifixes transforming into swasticas (dont let it happen again), the female arabian dancer, the finale of dirty day-bullet the blue sky-running to stand still (hallel hallel hallelujah)-where the streets have no name was truly spine tingling...but it was the tension caused by bonos politcal manouvres that made this tour so intriguing...the video link ups to serbia, the attempted phone calls to high ranking politicians - george bush refused to speak to him..bill clinton accepted...in glasgow he phoned the then scottish secretary - who lived in england..it made the gig more than just a rock concert

funny i was watching it last night on video...not the best recording in the world but still terrific...it was the sydney gig at the end of the tour and bono phones a local taxi company to get picked up at the stadium..the operator thinks it is some kind of drunken joke and puts the phone down on him..silly girl..bet she never lived that down

...and we stoop so low...to reach so high
