If Armageddon had been clearly announced at the conventions, then posters here in various areas who have attended would know that too. If it had been stated that directly, it would be quoted in some newspapers at least. I'm positive your mother did not hear this from the platform and is either reading more into something that was said or someone she "respects" had read more into into it.

I checked all the news articles and there is not a single quote from an individual JW or a press statement saying that the JWs are saying Armageddon is coming this year or next.

It is just a blackmail mechanism.

Kity, Oh please don't be afraid and please don't trust that. It is not true. This is not the first time the JW headquarters have said this. People from long ago believed the same thing and did things in their life to prepare for it. Every time, listen, everytime, they were wrong. They are false prophets. Their main tactic is to use fear! The bible says that no one knows the hour and to live your lives for Christ always. Not just in order to be ready, but to share his love with others in a real way. Not door to door, but by our actions and our help. You are dearly loved by our Father in heaven and he will never leave you nor forsake you if you accept Jesus's sacrafice as a gift to you. It is by grace so that no one can boast. I wish I had time to look up the verse but I am leaving in a moment. I will look it up and post it. You do not have to earn your salvation by being a JW. You do not have to spend all your energy trying to be good enough. You are good enough!!!!!!! Let me know if you need any more incouragement. Meri
