JW Convention in Edmonton, AB open to the public (weekend of July 1/06)

    They might stand out by their dress or grooming or the cigarette in their hand. Attendants are supposed to be "alert" and welcoming.

    At one large assembly I had the "security patrol" We were assigned to follow and keep an eye on persons who entered who were obviously "worldly" and might be up to no good. There usually weren't that many to worry about.

    As has been said District Conventions have always been open to the public, here in Britain.

    In recent years though they have always been tight on that all who attend should were a badge.

    So anyone not wearing a badge can be either watched or challenged to why they are there.

    I have heard of people going to the conventions, just to see what they were like, and been followed around by a couple of JW attendants.
