The fact is though, that family who have been robbed will probably think twice before helping anyone out ever again and perhaps never will...and the point being is that someone might genuinely need help next time!

It's nothing more than theft and deception.
I just wonder what his 'blushing' girlfriend thinks of your uncle. Hopefully she'll have a bit of sense in her and she'll realise if he can do this to complete strangers-regardless of his 'getting back at WTS' excuse, he can do this to anyone-including her.
This doesn't get back at WTS at all, it's just robbed an innocent family of their money and kindness-regardless of whether they're wealthy or not.
Not a pleasant story at all.

I guess it's funny in the sense that the Darwin Awards are funny, especially if it catches ya at the right moment. However, I'm afraid this wasn't the moment, and I'm horrified! That's not said to judge anyone who found it temporarily hit their funny-bone, though.
