Today, i can't remember what thread someone quoted an amazing scripture. Luke 21:8 which talks about keeping away from people who claim to represent Jesus and keep telling you the end is near. It fits the witnesses perfectly and mum didn't appreciate it when i showed it her. She said.

"well, the bible says it"...i don't get what she means by that but anyway.

My question is, how do they go through the bible reading at the kingdom hall yet miss things like this??????????

secondly, what scriptures/points do you like to make?

1 Timothy 5:8 - certainly if anyone does not provide for those who are his own, and especially for those who are members of his hosehold, he has disowned the faith and is worse than a person without faith.

I'm a Person without Faith, but I take care of my own...

My favorite scripture to help JW's see they are not going to have salvation:

So Jesus said to them, “ I assure you : Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life in yourselves.

    KW,

If you keep reading you will get that same feeling many times. You learn something that was hidden when you read the context instead of picking out two unrelated verses to prove a point.

That's the reason you see these little things. You always just read the cited scripture in the articles. Like any good JW has time to do that weekly bible reading.

The moment of truth for me came when reading about the man Jesus healed, the Pharisees threw him out of the synagogue for confessing Christ. Also, the things Jesus said to the Pharisees (at least to me) would apply to the society.

Happy reading! It made me feel much better.

Since leaving the WT, I have found so many scriptures I never knew were in the bible. Because they take you through a guided tour of the bible and only teach you what they want to. I especially love reading the scriptures that we used to read all the time in the KH, but seeing how different the meaning is when you read them it their context. Keep up the good work, you will feel better and better the more you read the bible on your own. And it will help fully release you from any spiritual captivity of the WT.

I am so happy for you, Lilly

Now you could go one step further and read the bible in context of all the other revealed scripture! Mind blower!

When elders couldn't understand why I didn't have a goal of becoming an elder I opened up the bible and read James 3:1 " Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, knowing that we shell receive heavier judgement"
I said, "you see even bible warns us about not too many aspiring to become elders in a congregation" (I know it says teachers but what else do elder do or love mostly doing if not exactly that - teaching and telling others what to do or not to do)

they've never asked me the same question again (mind you not long after I left for good)
