If heavens so great why don't people want to die?

I have often wondered that since heaven is supposedly so great, why don't people want to die?

Likewise with JW's, many I know don't stop complaining about how bad this system is. So why don't they want to die, and wake up in an instant in paradise?

People go to incredible lengths to save their lives. Cancer patients undergo terrible suffering through Chemotherapy to live longer. Surely for people with faith it would be easier to let go of this life and enjoy peace in the next. So why don't people in general want to let go?

Yup... I like to call it the Shot Gun Experiment. Anyone can do it and it only takes a few microseconds. Oddly enough, no one seems to want to enjoy eternal bliss.

Do you think it is more to do with fear of the actual process of dying rather than 'what's on the other side'?

Sometimes people can die in an instant ... other times, not so ...

I agree with emo, it is the fear of the process of dying.

That's why I invented the Shot Gun Experiment... 100% guaranteed to work in an incredibly short period of time.

No one wanna die, cause sex is here on earth.

But, elsewhere, you'd still have to go through that 'anticipation' stage before carrying out the experiment - plus I don't believe that it is definitely 100% guaranteed to work - there are too many variables.

Only the apostle Paul said I would rather die to be with the Lord but for your sake it's better if a carry on living.

Apparently no one really believes in life after death, after all who ever came back to say if there really is an after life. You also have those that fear they will go to hell so they want to postpone the start of that punishment.

Humans, as with all other animals, instinctively want to survive as long as possible. Humans are unique in that we are intelligent enough to anticipate our death in the distant future and also contemplate and communicate about it using complex thoughts and ideas.

This creates a contradiction in the human mind: We want to survive, yet we know that out death is inevitable.

The human survival instinct is so strong that many have concluded that they cannot *really* die and therefore invented the concept of an "afterlife". The more primitive reptilian portion of the brain in charge of survival has overridden the more advanced "logic" part of the human brain resulting in the *belief* of an afterlife.

You are correct Sad Emo when you say that people fear dieing more than death. That is why the Watchtower concept of Armageddon is as enslaving as the Catholic idea of hell. When the Watchtower says that Christianity manipulates its members with fear it conveniently ignores that it very much does the same.

It is an indication that people do not have strong faith. That is why suicide bombers can be respected that at least they demonstrate significant faith.
