Little toe, how does one get that relationship with Jesus? You have it, others don't including myself. If it is not about actual places i.e. heaven / hell, and it don't come from reading a book, then where does this relationship come from? Does it come from our own mind and feelings or is it God / Jesus who come to us?

    LittleToe:

Are they "places" or "states in relation to God"?

Fantastic!! This totally fits what I read somewhere else that if God is omnipresent then there can't be a place where He is not. Thanks!!

The carrot! "Don't we all desire a better world where we can live in peace and have everlasting life on earth"? That is our desire and what we pray for to God and the reason his son came down from heaven in the form of a man. Jesus gave his life that we may live.

Why is it taking so long? God cannot blame us who want peace and life for having doubts as it has been 2000 years since the promise...and what do we have? I CAN see your point. The concept of a burning in hell for the wicked (those who had a bad upbringing) is totally UNFAIR and then the GOOD ones aren't good enough to go to heaven. We all sin. Yes, I agree we really need for God to show his self to us. The words in the Bible is not enough.

A sage once stated: "the kingdom of heaven is in your midst". I guess the question remains: how do you take it by storm? Any takers?

"Heaven, I'm in heaven, and my heart beats so that I can hardly speak..."

I dont care so very much about the concepts of Hell and Heaven, altough they are good inspiration for storys and fiction the 2 are just not really within my interest. I care about the wellbeing of humanity (and i only discovered this 8ish months ago) and (i think) am changing myself to become capable of acting according to that. Next to that i expect Jehovah god will reward me accordingly, but i really prefer to know "We (humanity) are going to be okay" rather then "i'm gonna be saved", i find the latter kind of thought rather scary and dangerous because i recognize selfnishness as destructive.

Spiceant welcome to the board I noticed you said:

I have disinterested myself of the actual places of heaven or hell, But a lot of people spend their entire lifetime hoping they will get to heaven and will lead double lives if need be to get there.and that fools who? and even more spend their lives wondering or thinking that they have loved ones being tortured forever in a fiery place of torment. ex: My ex-Mom-n-law believes one of her sons is being tortured in hell because over 15 years ago he committed suicide.

But as others in this thread have said if there is something else or if there a place of peace then I for one wonder where it is to be found, if it's amongst us how is it obtained? if it's following death do we have any clues? LT I would never question your belief or faith

DD.....are you implying that the subject of Heaven and Hell only comes from the Bible? Heaven and Hell were believed in before the Bible. All cultures have their ideas of bliss and damnation and the Bible is just another one of those.

You have to admit there is a considerable difference between the pagan concepts of an afterlife like Nirvana and the biblical ones. Most of them don't even involve a "god" personal or otherwise. Was I wrong in assuming Blueblades was talking about the biblical Heaven and Hell? LT

The concepts, with variation, are found in many cultures and certainly predate Christianity by a loooong way.

Including Judaism. But, LT, you can't compare Pagan concepts of an afterlife to the biblical Heaven and Hell. D Dog

As for your looking into the sceptical examination of the bible....I think you know what I meant. Read some non-christian authored books about the bible, and maybe you'll understand where many such as myself are coming from as to whether it should be labeled as "Gods Word" to mankind.

How would I come to this forum or watch TV (Just look at PBS!) and not get a double dose of skepticism? What makes you think I don't read the critics? I've seen and herd most of it before. Does it make you feel better to think of me as uninformed or stupid? You don't scare me, I can take a good "woopin"!

    LOL

It always kills me how touchy the believers are.

If you're right and we're wrong, then you'll be able to look down on our endless suffering and anguish for all of eternity! Won't that be cool??

    So why worry?
