we should practise being persecuted, so we had our book study in a farm shed. At a prearranged time two brother would knock on the door and burst in to arrest us all. We had to then hide our literature, and make out we were there for a social.
At our weekly book studies, though we didn't do anything quite that extreme, we did talk about where to hide literature in our homes, whose homes had places that people could hide out (a la underground railroad). We learned how to identify edible plants to sustain ourselves in the wild (particularly hilarious for a suburbian group) & to keep bottled water/canned food hidden in our cars and basements. We all kept a list of the bros names & contact info hidden in our homes in case of attack. This was post-1975 during the cold war right before the Russians were going to invade NY and criminalize religion -- oh wait, that prediction didn't come true.
We were also taught that most girls would be raped during the tribulation & how to prepare ourselves mentally for rape (as if there is a preparation). Nice thing to teach children.
One guy even had torn the pages out of his study book and when the knock came promptly chewed and swallowed them.OMG, did he honestly thing eating 1 page would effectively hide all those books & bibles? What a laugh.
