  I used to have discussions with my mother about the WTS' beliefs. After 20 years she could not explain some of the most basic teachings. Even if she did research she would not have been able to explain even one doctrine. But then neither could I!

  It sounds like neither of you were dumb enough to "understand" bunkum - but the wts strived to keep you dumb, denying you the language to express what you already knew - humility would have led you to call a spade a spade, but they confused you with saying it means subservience - one needs language, the word, to see them as they are.

  Looking through the bound volumes most ofter left me thinking I was dumb because I "must have remembered it wrong" Little did I know then that the bound volumes were not an exact copy of the original magazines. They had been edited to remove changes made from the time of the magazine and when the bound volume came out.

  Yeah, I got stumped on this more than once myself. It never occurred to me that they would change it. I figured a reprint was a reprint, not an opportunity to rewrite history.

  After having gotten out and seeing some examples of the changes, I can easily see why so many are so bamboozled!

  No it never occurred to us either.

  I remember being at the book study when we were going through an older book for the second time. Some people had the new ones. We just used the old ones. It never dawned on us that they had actually re-written the books. We just assumed it was a printing error and followed along.

  Finding out about deliberate edits helped me a lot in realizing I wasn't as dumb as the WTS wanted me to think
