It's a case of cognitive dissonance the JWs will find it hard to accept that their investments in this org are basically wasted because it is not what it claims to be. So they will always have inner resistence to the idea that it is a rotten fraud and find ways to repress it. Unless something or a series of really shocking things come up that will really shake them such as big scandals and frauds committed by the GB.
What would it take

Dan - I think you're onto something - a picture (their own) paints a thousand words, literally - for those who don't / won't read or check out other stuff for fear of a demon jumping into their brain, glancing at a picture provides an instant plethora of words - we need access to all those bizarre and damning jw pictures - like "generation" stuff
There's a Watchtower from the 80's where the cover story is "1914 - The Generation that WILL NOT Pass Away" - I believe that the headline is accompanied by several pictures of elderly people, with the obvious implication being that they were alive prior to 1914. I wish I had a copy of it, so that when dubs come to the door, I could show it to them. "What exactly did they mean by this? Did Jehovah move them towards that understanding? If so, then why did it need to be effectively ditched later? Could they do the same thing with the blood issue someday?

Yeah, the time investment aspect of the JW religion I believe is a cold, calculated design by the GB and other assorted heavy hitters. The more time people put into it, the more committed they feel and hence the more difficult it is for them to fathom leaving it altogehter.

It is a personal experience that will open peoples eyes. Just today I told my last remaining witnesses friend my reasons for not going. The response was just as I thought it would be a blank look that said so what if 607 was not the year jeruselem was destroyed. So what if the WT$ was a part of the UN. so what if the have changed their policy on blood. Therefore my attitude is so what if all these dunder heads want to continue to follow a man made organization.
The way I see if in 20 years armegedon hasn't come, they will still be wasting there time. If it does come they can be satisfied that god destroyed me. Now the kicker is, if they hope for the latter outcome and see it as their vindication, what does that say about them? -
