Quick example, urinating in public means that the perp must register as a "sex-offender".

You've GOT to be kidding me...........that's just ridiculous.

Just finished reading about a 16 y/o who posted her own pics on "My Space" and was busted for child pornography.

WTF? What kind of pictures did she have posted?

It's not you, it's increased reporting of crime and news media.

With sex crime against older kids there's another driving factor; the raise in the age-of-consent

Not to put too fine a point on it, but even only a generation or two ago if someone was attracted to girls in their early teens one had outlets that either don't exist or are highly risky. Some of our great-grandfathers and even grandfathers were marrying girls fourteen or younger. It was socially acceptable and legal. In the 19th Century it was the plauge in child prostitution which drove the changes in Age-of-Consent, but there was no difference between the punishment for having sex with an 18 year old and a 14 year old prostitute..

We see more because what passed as everyday in our great-grandfathers day is now considered bad, but that hasn't stopped it happening.

Now it's pretty obvious why AOC has risen - education takes longer, society is more complex. A 12 year-old might be considered a worthy apprentice in 1880. He'd be as capable in that world as an eighteen year-old is in ours. Now men attracted to teenage girls screw up young women's lives, rather than probably taking her to tea with the neighbours.

So whilst it appears more prominent, it's probably no more frequent, and quite probably better than most of the 19th Century... and the victims today are freer to speak out... but that doesn't mean there weren't as many in the 50's that suffered in silence.

Kid on Kid abuse is MUCH more common now than even in the recent past, largely due to the internet and other easily accessable forms of porn.

Elsewise, the rate of recidivism of sexual offenders is constant, but the population continues to rise, so the corresponding rate of molesters continues to rise, as a statistical constant.

Attributing this rise to 'social engineering' meant to benefit conservatives is simply ludicrous.

But this doesn't mean a higher percentage of people under 16 are being subjected to sexual acts by adults than fifty years ago.

You mention kid on kid abuse... that needs definiton. Some technically illegal kid on kid sex under 16 is not abuse, but a perfectly normal part of sexual development, albeit one adults don't feel comfortable with.

Some countries deal with this fact, and still attempt to protect teens from sexula predation by setting 'two-stage' AOC's which do not criminalise normal (but early) sexual development with people of the same age whilst criminalising acts if the age gap is too large.

When religion was the 'law' that was enforced to protect people from crime, ie you'll go to hell if you do something bad, there was NO law protecting children from sex. Religion did not set an age of consent. However, REAL LAW, Human law, has seen fit to protect youngsters from sexual assault, by setting an age of consent. Age of Consent has provided a measuring stick for protecting youngsters. However, the Internet, much as the printing press and the post system has all made child sex into a business. People make money from it and so are PUSHING child sex as a personal business opportunity, which grabs the attention of many weak minded individuals who may NEVER ever have considered child sex in the past. So, I agree Minimus that there is more sex crimes against kids and global communication is probably to blame in a large way, and of course, money and greed!

I have to agree that the internet gives molesters a greater opportunity to indulge into their fantasies. But of course a pervert could see an innocent photograph of a cute child and sickly become aroused. That could be without the net's help.

I don't think that there are more sex crimes against kids than before. I think that it's not tolerated anymore, that's all. People speak up and talk more about this, and sometimes some adults are falsely accused too.

And since it's not tolerated anymore, and people speak up, and the truth comes out sooner or later, I think that there could be less sex crimes against kids than years ago. I may be wrong, but you asked my opinion...

the lawmakers are trying to crack down on offenders and the people in the state are pusshing for tougher laws, It amazes me how long it's taking for the recognisition to get something done.

I am new to this site and a Non-JW, This stuff has been going on for many years in all walks of life, I think like one of th posters posted is moral and immoral standards changing? Think about this, When my ex mother in law was 15 she was married. So that was the norm for some women back then, and my ex- father in law was 10 years older than her, Back then that was the norm, Today he would be slapped in Jail and be labeled a pedofile. Jump to Todays times, We have girls and boys knowing way more than they should about things You have both sexes throwing themselves at one another. Let me ask you this, If a 18 year old or more in this country dates anyone under 18, and they kiss, fondle or have sex, they are breaking the law and if mom or dad find out don't like the boy for any reason he is thrown in Jail and made to carry a label for the rest of his life. Or depending on either sex, lets say it is consenual between the both parties, but the one legally of age for one reason or another wants out of the relationship, the ohter one is hurt and wants to figure out how to make him/her hurt so they cry out molestations, etc... again this person is arrested and taken to jail and is labeled a pedofile the rest of his / her life. Where do we draw the line? I honestly belive that there should be tougher laws I have five children of my own, However I don't belive in the system that Floirda has where everyone has the same label just because of instances like i have brought up. I also think there should be some pentatlies to the so called victims too some times. These teenagers know what they are doing. Sometimes the vicitms are the person being labeled as the pedofiles. We have become a society where children are raising themselves, they are over educated in some areas of life and under educated in others.

And just for a bit of painful info, I was raped when I was nineteen by the pastor in my non denominational church. Charges never brought against him ( my doing) because i never turned him in, thinking it was my fault. However the bible says justice is mine sayeth the Lord and within a couple of years the church crumbled, He lost his house and vehilces, his wife found out, He had tried starting up a church a few years later and could not get it going.

There are many pedofiles out there in many religions, the internet and media we have today helps up learn quicker about these things in the past. While we want tougher laws and some states getting them where are the parents in all this also. another instance i will share, my ex and I had seperated I ended up moving out and getting an apartment my 2nd child get diagnosed needing a double lung transplant and as put in the hospital for 10 months in a city 2 hours from where I live. I was living in that city with my daughter, my ex ends up living with my ex best friend and my oldest daughter did not want to do that, He gave her permission to live in my apartment while I was away she was 17. Not only that he gave her persmission to allow her 18 year old boyfriend who lived 5 hours away to come down for the weekend at my apartment. I hit the roof, my ex says well I trust my daughter, and i retorted with I trust my daugher to but I don't trust the ragging hormones in side my daughter or him. We have to not set our children up.

Okay sorry to get long winded but some thoughts i had while reading this post.

I don't know about that particular 16 year old but the teens are into porn and go as total nudity until the webhost see's it and deletes them. And they solicit threesomes , 69. etc.....!

Teens today are into, wiccan, satan worship, vampireism, murder, theft, vandalism, car jacking, drug dealing, porn sex, and that is just the surface and most of these teens come from wealthy , family oriented homes.
