Aaahh! if you've got a cold it's possibly your sinuses and eustachian tubes that are all blocked up, increasing the pressure in your ears. Maybe you could try an all-round flu remedy which has the paracetamol and decongestant in.
I take Beechams Flu Plus (Hot berry fruit flavour cos it tastes nice!) don't know if you have that or something similar there but it's really effective.
