marijuana came from the orient- maybe they smoked that.
I know that lots of stuff frrom the far east was common across the eurasian continent especially at jesus' time with all that trading going on.
I can't imagine the mid- and near- east citizens not smoking weed. And if Jesus thought it was wrong it would definitely have been mentioned -at least by Paul, that grumpy curmudgeon!
