    Philo,

I think in that instance they would show christian kindness and just sympathize with you, and mention how you have righteous indignation but that you just need to use a better choice of words.

    Cosmo,
I'm pleased to see you edited the reply you directed at me. I read it and felt it unwise to come back as you obviously took my post as an attack. For the same reason I will disregard your e-mail. I feel sure you understand how we all get a little emotional and I got stung when I was a newbie for taking things to heart.
As for the obesity thing yes I own up...I am a fat sod. I have battled all my life with the problem and am under a specialist for endocrinological problems. I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome which means other problems including infertility so I am childless. I suppose I am pretty sensitive to remarks that seem to infer obesity is self-inflicted. Gluttony was brought up by another poster and I never suggested you had said that.
Smoking isn't my favourite subject either. I watched my Nana die of lung cancer. Enough said.
I know what you meant about the WT society. I sometimes felt that the counsel got a bit close about overweight and considering their deep love of control, control, control I'm surprised it hasn't become a DF offence.
So on the subject of offence try not to take it so easily and unless someone puts your name on the top of their post they are being general not directly hitting on you even if you set the thread off.

BTW as Individuals Wife said welcome to the board.

    Free2Bme,

    no harm, no foul.

I can now see how this subject and others throughout this Board can invoke emotional responses.

    Phylo,

    do you mean turet's syndrom?

I'm sure they wouldn't be able to stand for that.

What we weigh is your own personal business and no one elses. A person's health (as long as they don't have anything that could spread to the rest of us) is their business. I find usually you are what you come from. If you come from tall blond swedes you are usually tall and blond. If you come from short stout peasants (notice I didn't say any nationality)....well. Weight is also sometimes a complex mental issue.

Whether one smokes or not is also a personal decision. I'm glad when I hear that someone has quit because I know its bad for you. But I would never critisize someone for what I did everyday for 20 years.

The Borg has its nose in every aspect of their members lives in an effort to control them. Why not try to control their weight too.

minds are like parachutes--they only function when open.
