Township sues church over damage to sewer line

Thursday, February 02, 2006 By Ben Cunningham

ADA TOWNSHIP -- Ada Township has taken a dispute involving a Jehovah's Witness church addition to Kent County Circuit Court.

The township claims Cascade Congregation of Jehovah's Witness has failed to reimburse it $64,993.68 for repairs made to municipal sewer lines damaged during construction of an addition to the church, according to court documents.

The damage allegedly occurred in late 2002 or early 2003 when the hall, at 1250 Spaulding Ave. SE, built its addition.

In March 2003, Secretary/Treasurer Chris Vroma promised, in a letter, that Cascade Congregation would reimburse the township for costs to repair the damaged sewer section at the intersection of Spaulding Avenue SE and Cascade Road.

Congregation officials did not return telephone calls seeking comment, and as of last week had not yet responded in court to the lawsuit.

The Township Board approved filing the suit, which seeks to recoup expenses along with court costs, attorney fees and other "appropriate relief," according to court documents. The suit was filed last month.

Almost 3 years and they haven't been good w/their word to repay????? What the heck???

Where's the Society's help if cong. can't afford this bill? Don't want to stumble anyone or give the cong. a bad name, you know? Wouldn't this be classified as "conduct unbecoming a Christian" ?? But the lowly one would be DF over such a thing - not repaying a debt and bringing shame on the cong. At the least dragged into the "war room". Juni

    Dear Brothers:

We ahve been attacted by Satan's agent, Christindom. We need you, brothers, to reach deep into your pockets to show Jehovah exactly where your faith lies. We have called the Society several times, but they are not returning our calls. We fear Satan has already got 'em!

Thank you brothers and now song number 69, You're Screwed.

It's OK to promise to pay and then renege, because Armageddon will be here by whenever.

Why are we surprised? The WT have never cleaned up any of the shit they've created.

    Hah!

Can't you just see the beads of sweat on the PO's face when, after calling Brooklyn, he was told in effect, "Sorry brother, you're on your own!"

They are tight when it comes to giving money but this time they have no choice and they are just delaying it as much as they can.

Is Chris Vroma a JW on the congregation BOE who made this promise?

Did he do it as part of the KH corporation members?

Too bad the congregation made a resolution to have a certain amount of money paid out of the monthly donations.

$65,000 / 36 months is roughtly $1,800. Even if all they could afford is $1,000, they would have paid off at least $36,000. But not to have paid a dime since March 2003; shame on them.

Probably sending all the money to the WTS.

Interesting. Does anyone realise that Ada, Michigan is the headquarters of Amway?
