How can she pick and choose who she wants to shun?

Recently my mother and sister have cut me out of their lives. They made it quite clear that they don't want anything to do with me anymore, my mother going so far as to change her will (not that there was much there anyways).

I have not DA, am not DF, have never said anything to anyone in my family about my doubts or what I have uncovered about this religion, I just stopped going to meetings. (I usually go to the DC with her, and some CA, and the memorial at her cong.)

BUT, here's the kicker - she freely associates with DF'd family members. Her sister and neice have been DF'd for years and she regularly sees her sister, goes to her place for meals, stays over etc. Plus she is helping her convicted sex offender brother with his parole - going so far as to tell them that he could stay with her if his parole is accepted! (BTW he is not a JW) How can she do this? He sexually abused his mentally handicapped step daughter for years, and she would allow him to stay with her, when her young granddaughter just lives upstairs?

She wants nothing to do with me when I haven't done anything to be DF'd for and here she is shunning me, but keeping in contact with DF'd people and criminals! It just doesn't make sense to me.

Wow, I think you should send her a letter or email stating just what you said, and see what her reaction is. And of course let us know! (if you want) I have people like that in my own family, and never understood it myself.

Have you asked her how she can do this?

If she wont speak to you, I would defintely end her a letter pointing out everything youve raised here. Cos lets be honest it wont make your suituation worse.

During repeated sexual molestation and abuse scandals in one of my former halls, it was amazing to me how many active JW's refused to believe that the abuse occurred. The blame was always placed on the children ( I heard on more then one occasion that the young teens had manipulated the men into abusing them ) If it was pre-teens and young kids involved then the children must be making it up. For some twisted reason some JW's do not like to believe in the guilt of these people. It becomes almost noble for them to support the accused in all ways possible.

I truly hope that the restrictions placed on this person's parole will limit him from being within a certain amount of distance from young children, this would hopefully prevent him from living in that home with a young girl being that close.

I am sorry to hear that.

If you have done nothing to deserve this treatment it sounds like you are better off without them!

I've been thinking about this all morning! I really like Vitty's suggestion of writing this down in a letter to give to her. Maybe it will make her think about her actions?

    Thanks for your responses.

I should send her an email regarding this. I just sent one today addressing some things she said. I've been sharing all this with my brother - he's the one that brought up her association with my aunt. We've always been around her even as children just after she was df'd, so I really don't consider her in that way. He also told me about her helping my uncle with his parole. I really stressed to him about stepping in and not allowing this, especially with my neice so close. He's not sure what he's going to do yet (he's made an apartment in his house for her, so technically as her landlord, I think he could prevent it from happening).

He tried to talk to her today, but she's not the easiest person to talk to, she gets angry and nasty, and he has his own problems with her.

I'm going to see if she responds to my last email, and take it from there. She's called me apostate already, so if she persues things with the elders, I have a few things to tell them about her.
