LittleToe,
"Just because you now assume they are myths, doesn't necessarily make them so"
True, but it leave us anything to go by, where as if he told us soemthing only the Creator could know at that time then a lot less is left to the colourful human imagination.

AuldSoul,
If he'd given us E=MCsquared back then, maybe the end would have come sooner, which is a good thing.

Yea... everybody here expects that Jesus would show something what prooves his Divinity. How about ressurection? :) You don't believe... that's coz you still are
a bunch of tribal ignoramuses
TS Great link, thanks.

The problem with the E=MC2 reference is that, being the creator, He may know that E=MC2 isn't true at all the levels of the universe. But, knowing the human condition, He would know that we prefer drinking wine at a party to water.

I had considered that as well.

Clarke's Laws

1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.
3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. (Or miracles, in this case.)

Good Article Tetra,

The WTs position that the Bible must be from God because of the advanced wisdom in it would more so support other religions and cultures as being from God due to the advanced concepts they had.

1.Self-contradictory. This law states a probability that it is not possible for an elderly scientist to be right about something being impossible.

2.Self-contradictory. There IS NO impossible to "venture a little way past into."

3.Concept smuggling. The concept of technology is man-made application of science toward creating a solution to a problem. Magic is manipulation of a point of view to create the FALSE IMPRESSION that an impossibility is possible.

Clarke spent too much time out in the sun in Tahiti (or whatever paradise he lives on.)

I remember the Watchtower article that made much about the superior wisdom of the Levitical laws!!

The scripture about not boiling a kid in it's mother's milk was supposed to reveal Jehovah's merciful kindness.

Huh? Who, may I ask, would KNOW? The slaughtered kid? (The slaughter of animals was Jehovah approved). The Mother? The Milk itself?

It actually sounds more like a superstitious sort of queasiness on the part of the Levitical law makers than mercy.

The resurrection of Jesus or any of his followers would indeed prove his divinity if any of these people were alive today. But they're not. All that's left of these or any of the other miracles recorded in the bible is a neat story, and even some of the miracles are so hokey they're laughable. Anyone remember that guy who left a fleece on the ground overnight and the dew didn't stick to it? Didn't think so!

Instead we have Jesus who claims the mustard seed is the smallest in the world. If you (co)created every species of plant, wouldn't you have instead said "The smallest seed you know of is the mustard seed, though there are many, many smaller," and then went on with your sermon? Or would you make a flase claim for dramatic effect? Isn't that lying?
