FDS Union of Bethel Workers go on StrikeBreaking News: The Faithful and Discreet Slave union of Bethel Workers had voted to go on strike over a failure to negotiate a new contract. Printing presses are idle, the kitchens are empty and there is no one to serve food.

Currently, Bethel Workers are paid a stipend of only $110 a month and are forced to work 5 ½ days a week. They have little free time, and what free time they do have, they are expected to use it in furthering Kingdom interests.

Leading FDS Unionist Bro. Workmy Assoff, representing 2,000 Bethel New York workers said that “we’ve had tried to negotiate with the Governing Body over decent working conditions. We are paid below Federal minimum wage, have no pension or social security plan and are still expected to contribute to utility bills. What is more, our room lights have been reduced from 70W to 25W. We seek fair working conditions for all Bethel staff.”

One senior union member Bro. Willy Domore said, “We are treated like dirt by the Governing Body. Just because we wash dishes and clean toilets, this does not mean we have to endure appalling sweatshop factory conditions. Without us, Bethel would stop moving, presses would shut down and no one would buy our products.”

J.R. Brown, the chief spokesman for the Governing Body said this: “Our Bethel workers are given free room and board and free health care. We do not recognize this illegal strike. The union, by going on strike has taken a stand against Jehovah. We should all listen to the voice of the faithful and discreet slave as what they say comes from the lips of Jehovah himself.”

James Pellechia, a senior accountant said that “if the Bethel workers do not return to their posts, they will be disfellowshipped for abandoning their service to Jehovah.”

They would never do that---they have challenging and meaningful work (how to arrange those watchtowers into neat stacks), high morale, nobody is constantly telling them what to do, and a comprehensive retirement plan--Oh they don't really need that after all the end is just around the corner you know....

    Funny.

I wonder if they are still expected to get to the meetings this week with the Transit Strike? Maybe at least this way they will get Christmas off this year.
